When did you stop beating up your brother?
As soon as he was bigger than me, except for that one punch on my 24th birthday, which was arguably one of the shittiest days of my life. Also, I am seriously considering changing the name of my blog to When Did You Stop Beating Up Your Brother? Ask me anything

icanseenewyorkcityfrommyhouse: “Advocates for women’s health said one of the new law’s benefits would be to ban the denial of health coverage to women who have had a prior Caesarean section or been victims of domestic violence. Some companies providing individual policies have refused coverage in those circumstances, regarding Caesareans or beatings as pre-existing conditions that were...

Earth entering a new age of geological time →
evangotlib: danielholter: afghanibanani: It is feared that the damage mankind has inflicted will lead to the sixth largest mass extinction in Earth’s history with thousands of plants and animals being wiped out. The new epoch, called the Anthropocene – meaning new man – would be the first period of geological time shaped by the action of a single species. Although the term has...

Buttermilk Waffle Bread Pudding @ the Brunch...
If you live in New York and you love food, you need to get yourself to one of Nick Suarez’s and Theo Peck’s Food Experiment Cookoffs. There have been five Experiments so far, on themes from Beer to Cheese to Chocolate and Tacos, four of which I’ve participated in as a contestant, and three of which I’ve placed in - including yesterday’s Brunch Experiment, where I took...

TALKING WITH PENNY
My favorite thing about the office is the potential for wildly literate and wholly unique conversations I tend to fall into with one of my bosses. Upcoming: A few choice quotes from today’s rabbit hole, a 15 minute conversation that touched on modern celebrity, weirdness, marriage, short fiction, Schopenhauer, old friends, and Van Gogh.

– Colum McCann, Let the Great World Spin (via tylercoates) LET THE GREAT WORLD SPIN is the best book I’ve read all year. I won’t get into superlatives because frankly I’ll just make it sound like a pile of pretentious junk, but it’s truly fantastic and you should read it....

10,000 bees in a keg-sized hive in my parents’ front yard. NBD. Unfortunately, they had to destroy the hive because they couldn’t tell if the bees were Africanized (i.e., dangerous) or not. There was no edible honey in the hive and with so many bees, it was too dangerous to try to relocate the hive. Big bummer, but nothing else they could do.
