Worried about the hurricane heading our way this weekend? Learn everything you need to know about properly preparing for a hurricane in this video that Justin shot during 2004’s Hurricane Charley.
Basic rundown:
1. Shop for food and water. Don’t wait too late or all you’ll have left is Fanta.
2. Fill your tub with water.
3. Stay inside
4. Stock up on candles
5. Get drunk
Also remember to keep a lot of potable water on hand: 1 gallon, per person, per day. If you have pets, remember water for them, too.
And pack any important documents/IDs (passports, birth certificates, etc) in double-ziplocs and put them in your Emergency Bag just in case you have to evacuate quickly.
Holy cow! Are they on the bayside before the Belle Vista homes went in? The angle of this pic is messing with my head!
Edit: Of course there are more than one old-timey pink hotels in St Pete. Looks like this is the Vinoy instead of my initial thought, the Don Cesar. I guess I had completely discounted this being the Vinoy because who seriously wants to sun themselves on Tampa Bay when you could be at St Pete Beach?
PS: My senior prom was at the Vinoy.

My hometown.
Pfft, Sarasota’s beaches blow Tampa’s and St. Pete’s right out of the warm Gulf waters.
Oh, hey.
I’m in Sarasota right now, visiting my parents and my grandma, who just moved to palliative care in a nursing home. For right now, she’s very lucid. We talked for an hour yesterda, which is easily the longest continuous conversation I’ve ever had with her. It was great.
Other than that, I’m just, you know. Hitting up jazz clubs, cooking some gourmet shit, going for runs and swims and shopping.
Today I think I’ll hit the gym, then the pool, then maybe scarf some gator bites and oyster shooters and some craftbrew on the beach. NBD. Happy Labor Day, y’all.
Just got this photo via press release, and all I can say is I WANT TO GO TO THERE. This is a shot of the new Harry Potter ride being built at the Universal Orlando Resort. I’m such a sucker for themed attractions.
“Set to open in Spring 2010 only at Universal Orlando Resort, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter will feature multiple themed attractions, shops and a restaurant.”
Mmm yep, ditto.
My parents are a 2.5 hr drive to Orlando. Definitely hitting this up this spring. Y’all are welcome to join.
I’m sure this guy did a lot of research before writing such a statement on the back of his SUV.
Honestly, I’m just impressed this driver managed to spell everything correctly, considering his/her proximity to Myakka.
